Glitter Monogram

Here’s a card I made this evening after a fabulous day of stamping with two of my friends and Stampin’ Up! downlines, Jane Collins and Gina Britton.  (Unfortunately the scan does not do this card any justice, looks fabulous in real-life).

We had such a great time sharing techniques and ideas and collaborating on cards together.  At the end of our session we came up with this card (the original had an “M” monogram).  It’s funny how things work out, Gina chose and stamped the background then I chose the other two stamps, Jane suggested we add glitter and the whole thing just worked out beautifully.  Such a simple yet elegant card.

I loved this card immediately and so this evening I ended up making a whole heap of them.

These are the products we used to make this card:

All products by Stampin’ Up!

Floral Background Stamp
Label Classics stamp set
Headline Alphabet stamp set
Very Vanilla cardstock
Ballet Blue inkpad
Certainly Celery inkpad and matching cardstock
Stamp-a-ma-jig (stamp positioner)
Versamark inkpad

Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

We Have A Winner!

Yes! We have a winner. :D

Firstly I’d like to thank everyone who entered in the competition and especially a big thank you for referring your friends to my blog.  I hope to have lots more regular competitions so if you’re after some ‘blog candy’ then drop in regularly or subscribe to my RSS Feed to be updated on what’s happening.

So.  The winner of the my January-February competition is Annette :D .  Congratulations Annette.  Could you please contact me asap as I can’t match up your name with the e-mail addresses on my list which means I can’t contact you.

What does Annette win?  She wins her choice of either the Stampin’ Up! ”Simple Wishes” stamp set or “Around the Block” stamp set.  These stamps can be viewed here: Simple Wishes or here: Around the Block.

Thank you again to everyone who posted, signed up for my mailing list or just visited my blog.  This was a fun competition and I can’t wait to organise the next one.

Competition ended yesterday!

Whoa!  Nearly forgot… LOL.  Surprised no one gave me a nudge to remind me that my competition ended yesterday.  Okay, I said I’d announce the winner today so I’m off now to put all the names in a big deep bowl and I’ll get back to you before the night is over with the competition winner.

Stay tuned to find out who wins a free set of Stampin’ Up! stamps. :D

Ronald McDonald House

Do you like making lots of cards, maybe to send as RAKs or swaps?  Then you might like to join me in helping out Ronald McDonald House.  Currently, Ronald McDonald House buys all their greeting cards so sending them some of your lovely handmade cards would be helping out this great charity.

What does Ronald McDonald House do?  Well you can read more about this charity here: www.rmdc.com.au – but one of the things they do is to provide a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

If you’d like to help (other than sending a monitary donation), you can mail some of your lovely handmade cards to Ronald McDonald House.  The sorts of cards they’d like are ‘Thinking of You’, ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Sympathy’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Get Well’, ‘Baby Cards’ and Christmas cards.  Unfortunately because many of these children are terminally ill, Ronald McDonald House needs Sympathy cards that are for children passing away. :(

You can mail your cards to:

Ronald McDonald House
100 Angus Smith Drive,
Douglas,  Townsville   4814

or

Ronald McDonald House
22 Garrick Terrace
Herston QLD 4006

Just put a note in there saying that the cards are a donation to them.

Monochromatic Elegance

I think there’s something so elegant about monochromatic cards.  During my team’s cyberstamp night tonight (yes it’s still on, I’ve just ducked out to post here – hehehehe) we were challenged by Georgina (our lovely Cybermistress for the evening) to make a monochromatic card.  I decided I’ve been making way too many pink cards lately so I went for green.  It’s a pretty straightforward card but what you can’t see in the scan is that the flower motifs in the middle are clear embossed.  I stamped the flower motifs with Old Olive classic ink onto some Brushed Gold cardstock and then clear embossed.  Yes the classic ink is a dye ink, but because I was stamping onto coated cardstock it stayed wet long enough for me to emboss.  Looks so much nicer in real life than on the blog, sigh, wish I could make the scan look better.

So.  All products used to make this card are by Stampin’ Up! and are available for purchase through me at: angelasargeant@gmail.com

Products used:

Mostly Flowers stamp set
French Script background stamp
Old Olive cardstock
Old Olive inkpad
Brushed Gold cardstock
Certainly Celery cardstock
Certainly Celery inkpad
Antique Brass Hodgepodge (photo anchors & brads)
1 3/8″ Square Punch
Clear Embossing Powder
Heat Gun

Hmmm, I should also add the Stampin’ Up! colour wheel to this list as I wouldn’t have put Olive and Celery together had it not been a suggested monochromatic combination on the Colour Coach.

Altered Book & Chipboard

Love chipboard? How about Altered Books?  Then take a look at the latest layout I did for my Crystals Altered Book using Buzz and Bloom Tubby Alphabet Chipboard.  Here’s a tiny bit:

It’s a really different look to my cards but I think it balances me nicely.  I love making structured and elegant looking cards and then all of a sudden doing altered books and collage.

Funky Cool Cat

And now for something totally different.  I wanted to make a birthday card for my 9 year old daughter and knowing she loves anything pink, anything with flowers and anything with cats I set to work.  Sure I could have used some fancy stamping and techniques but at the end of the day I know that she doesn’t care, she just love “cool things” and cats.  So here’s the card I made for my daughter.

I made this card by using Stampin’ Up! products (all except for that little silver star in the cat’s crown).

Oh. And here’s the inside of the card:

Products used (and available for purchase through me at angelasargeant@gmail.com) are:

Cool Cat stamp set (cat and crown)
Passion Pink cardstock and matching inkpad
Only Orange cardstock and matching inkpad
Sassy Designer Series Scrapbooking Papers
Crystal Effects (cat’s collar)
Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (cat’s collar)
Silver star (not SU! probably from the local $2 shop)
Stampin’ Dimensionals (foam tape on the back of the cat panel)
Square Metal Rimmed tag (inside card)
All Year Cheer II stamp set (Happy Happy Birthday greeting inside card)
Green Galore inkpad (greeting inside card)

Fun, simply and best of all my daughter loved it. :D
