I’m here! Heeeeellllllppppp!!!

Oh gosh I know, this has been the longest I’ve gone without posting – but it’s been absolute mayhem over here. Between a sick child and getting a new computer and all the other things that life throws at you, I haven’t had a chance to post. That and ummmm…. I forgot my user id and password to get into the blog to post – in my defence, I never had to type it in with my old computer as it automatically came up after the first time… so with the new one I had to type it in at least once for it to remember. Anyway, I’m here now and would love to show you some cards that I had published in the latest issue ‘i can make it myself’ magazine – a general craft magazine published by Pride Publishing, however…. yep, I’ve got no idea how to upload the photo. I’m so close yet so far, so if there’s anyone out there that uses an iMAC and knows WordPress (or vice versa) then please please please e-mail me as I’m desperate here. I’ve got so many scans to share and I can’t figure out how to get the picture (which I can see right now as I write the post) into the actual post.

Hopefully I can get it all sorted soon as I’m desperate to have another competition but I need to be able to upload a picture of the ‘blog candy’ to make it more enticing.

Swap Card

I just finished a swap with some of my downlines and now that everyone has received my swap card I can show you guys what I made too.

For this card I used a sketch that I found somewhere on the internet.  Don’t ask me where! I surf so much I’ve got no idea anymore… but if I ever find the site again I’ll let you know.

The centre image has been stamped in Versamark and embossed with silver embossing powder then coloured in using markers.  To do the criss-cross on the right hand side, I pierced holes into the cardstock then sewed the silver thread through and lastly inserted the green brads.  The word “cherish” down the bottom was stamped by colouring in the word cherish from the Stampin’ Up! “Lexicon of Love” stamp set using a marker and then stamping onto the cardstock.  After stamping I punched the word out using the Word Window punch and then edged it using a marker.

Here’s the list of products that I used to make the card: (let me know if you’d like any more instructions ;) )

Catalogue CASEing Challenge

Last week I did a Catalogue CASEing challenge (same as one of my downlines Alisa did) and now I can’t wait to do more.

The challenge was to copy a card from the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue exactly – then make another card using the same layout only using different stamps and different colours.

Here’s the card that I copied from page 78 of the 2006-2007 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalogue:

And here’s the card that I made by using the above card as inspiration:

The cool thing about this challenge is that you never run out of ideas.  You can achieve so many different looks just by using the same sketch by changing which rubber stamps and embellishments you use along with different coloured inkpads and cardstock.  This is where the real value is in the Idea Book & Catalogue, it’s not just a catalogue of stamps and embellishments to buy but an idea book filled with so much inspiration.

For anyone wanting to recreate these cards, these are the products I used:

All products by Stampin’ Up! and available for purchase through Angela Sargeant.

First card:

Heartfelt Thanks stamp set
Print Pattern background stamp
Mellow Moss cardstock and matching inkpad

Stampin’ Dimentionals (double-sided foam tape)

Second card:

Almost Amethyst cardstock, matching inkpad and matching marker
Certainly Celery cardstock
Stampin’ Pastels
