Carte Postale

Here’s a card I made today with the help of my daughter Jade who helped cut the cardstock, gave me style tips and very importantly found my Old Olive sponge dauber when I lost it. I think Jade’s going to be my new assistant, although she’s only 10 she did all the above plus reorganised my punches and labelled some of my sponge daubers amongst other things.

To make this card I first sponged some Old Olive ink around the edges of a piece of folded Old Olive cardstock. The bottom strip of card is Ruby Red which I stamped with flowers using Chocolate Chip ink, sponged around the edges of the card with the same ink using a sponge dauber and then adhered it to the bottom of the card. The top strip is Chocolate Chip cardstock on which I have pierced holes across the top and bottom of the strip, attached some ribbon over it then adhered it to the top of the Old Olive card. The stamp in the centre was stamped in Old Olive ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, coloured in with Ruby Red ink and a waterbrush then punched out with a square punch. It’s difficult to tell from the photo but I stamped this image a second time on Very Vanilla cardstock and then punched out the circle with the flower in the middle using my matching circle punch, coloured it in, applied some Crystal Effects on the flower (giving the petals a shiny look), inserted a copper brad and then mounted it over the original image using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some ‘lift’. That whole piece was then adhered to a piece of chocolate chip cardstock punched out with my square punch (which is slightly larger than the square punch used for the stamped image) and then mounted onto the card as shown in the photo.

Double Digits!!!

My little darling is growing up. :( When kids are little babies everyone tells you to enjoy them because they grow up so fast. Unfortunately when you’re sleep deprived, under a mountain of nappies (diapers) and bottles of milk and chasing them around the house so they don’t hurt themselves, it’s difficult to keep focus. Yes, it does go fast – and my baby daughter turned 10 the other day. Sigh. Anyone have a time machine so I can keep her this way forever?

Anyway, I actually came close to buying her a card this year instead of making one as I wondered whether she sometimes wished I’d just buy one like everyone else gets. Seems I was wrong as she was absolutely thrilled with her card. So much so in fact, that she asked me to order her a pack of the Au Chocolate designer paper I used to make it. LOL.

Here’s the card:
