Simple Christmas Card

Do you like to make your Christmas Cards quick and easy?  I do!  I guess I feel that the quick and easy Christmas Cards are also the ones that turn out to be the most elegant and striking.  This is one of the cards that I’ll be making this Christmas for family and friends because I just love the way it looks in real life.

25th december card

This card is so quick and easy it really just takes minutes to create.  I stamped the “do not open until Dec 25th” image in Old Olive ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then punched it out with the matching Designer Label punch.  The image was then adhered to the back of the Designer Label metal hardware (Hodgepodge) using Crystal Effects.  Crystal Effects is traditionally used to add a glaze or dimension to an image but I love using it as a glue, especially for this purpose because the nib is the size of the groove on the back of the Hodgepodge Hardware so I can quickly and easily draw a line of glue on the back then pop the image in and leave it for a minute to dry.

The base of the card is textured cardstock that I slipped into an embossing folder then ran it through the Big Shot to give me that beautiful embossed background.  Although the embossed image isn’t a Christmas one, I think it still works well.  I then placed the Hodgepodge onto the card and secured it with two clear rhinestone brads and finished the card off with the wide striped grosgrain ribbon tied around the card front with a simple knot.  The great thing about using wide ribbon is that it becomes a major embellishment in itself so you don’t feel like the card needs anything else.

So will you be making quick and easy Christmas cards this year?

Papercrafting Day

Would you like to spend a lovely Saturday crafting with me?  I’m going to be teaching cardmaking and my friend Sonia from Forever Always is going to be teaching scrapbooking on Saturday 18th at Chatswood West Community Centre (Sydney).  The class is being put together by the wonderful Notebook Magazine and is sure to be a relaxing yet fun day, plus there will be a little thank you gift from me for everyone who attends.

There will also be a BYO Craft Afternoon Tea on the same day from 12:00pm to 4:00pm – again, this will be held by the lovely people of Notebook Magazine.

Bella Toile

I was lucky enough to receive the gorgeous Bella Toile background stamp as one of my awards at the last Stampin’ Up! Convention and now that the new catalogue has been released today, I can show off a card that I made a few weeks ago with this stamp.

bella toile

It looks like it would take a long time to colour but it’s quite quick really.  I stamped the background using Chocolate Chip ink then just used a blender pen to drag the colour into to the swirls to shade them in.  More colour was added in various spots to add some depth.  Because the image is quite strong I decided to only add a sentiment and some embellishments.  The ‘congratulations’ sentiment is from the Perfect Punches stamp set.  Sounds like a weird name for a stamp set, but it’s called that because each of the stamps in this set coordinate perfectly with one of Stampin’ Up!’s punches.  By the way! if you’ve received your new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue then you probably have noticed that some of the images of our stamps have an outline around them – that’s to identify which of the Stampin’ Up! punches coordinates perfectly with that image.  Of course there’s lots of images that work beautifully with our punches but the ones that have the outline are the ones that have a specific matching punch.

So, hope you like my card.  I’ve listed below all the products I’ve used but if you have any questions at all about this card or if you would like to purchase any Stampin’ Up! products then please feel free to email me.
