Here’s a card I completed today for a friend of mine:

I say “completed today” because I started it yesterday. Not sure why sometimes I know exactly what I want a card to look like but it still takes me hours to complete. Could be because it’s school holidays and I’ve been interrupted every few minutes… hmmmm. Actually I even used a sketch to make this card which can quicken the process even more. I got the sketch from Beate’s website which is a great site for getting sketches and inspiration.
To make this card I started with the ‘t’ chipboard which I covered with gluestick and then adhered some Stampin’ Up! ‘Au Chocolat’ Double-sided Designer Paper to it and cut around the ‘t’. I then sanded the edges to smooth the ‘t’ and ran my Chocolate Chip marker around the perimeter to hide any chipboard colour on the edges. Next I cut a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and pierced holes around the perimeter of the card and attached the ‘t’ to the middle, this was then layered onto a piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock.
For the background I used some more Au Chocolat paper which is actually Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla but I coloured in some of the Vanilla bits in with my Certainly Celery marker – I left some of the smaller dots and dashes Vanilla and just coloured the larger bits. The ‘t’ piece was then adhered to the coloured patterned paper on the left hand side and I then adhered some matching Vanilla and Celery grograin ribbon to the right side of the card as shown. The sentiment on the side which says: “Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we might as well dance” is from the Edgy Eloquence stamp set and was stamped in Chocolate chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and layered onto Chocolate Chip cardstock – you can’t see it from the photo but the sentiment was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some lift. The circles above the sentiment were made simply by punching out some flowers from more Au Chocolate paper using a small circle punch and then adhering those to some punched out circles from Chocolate Chip cardstock, a Certainly Celery brad was added to each flower and the pieces were attached to the ribbon with Sticky Strip to secure them. Lastly this whole piece was layered onto some Pretty in Pink cardstock and then again onto a folded piece of Certainly Celery card.

This looks fabulous – lucky ‘T’!
Sweet card, Angela! I love that paper!
Thanks for participating in the challenge.
Hugs and smiles
Beautiful card. Thanks for the reminder that I can color in my DP to match my color combo. I really like the Au Chocolate paper. Think I’ll try making a valentine with choc chip and pretty in pink, and color in a bit of the DP with the pink….thanks for the inspiration!
I really love this card……you’ve made me have a second look at that paper. It isn’t one of my favourite. Mind you, I love the colours and had never thought of colouring it…………..lucky you’re the boss huh!! LOL!!
Oooh, Oooooh I know who the friend “T” is….. IT’S ME!!!! Thank you so much for the gorgeous card (and for calling me friend *hugs*), it has pride of place in my living room… it is just stunning IRL… thank you.
And love the marker around the edge tip – I’ve been trying to ink the edges with inkpads and daubers 8-), such a simple time-saving tip! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE this paper – am on my 3rd pack!
