St. Patrick’s Day

Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day so for all my Irish friends/readers, here’s a card for you:

St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and is the person celebrated on Ireland’s national day.  Although St. Patrick wasn’t Irish himself, his work around Ireland in the 5th Century is said to have brought religion to the nation.  Intrestingly the shamrock also has a religious connetation in the history of St. Patrick as it is said that he used the shamrock to teach about the Holy Trinity.

Enough history and religion!  Back to cardmaking ;)   I made a few different versions of this card and then ended up uploading the simplest to my blog as I wanted to really highlight the funny verse and the shamrock.  I didn’t have an amusing verse in a rubber stamp to suit this card so I simply found one on the internet, typed it up and printed it in green on white cardstock.  The shamrock stamp is from Stampin’ Up!’s Occasionally stamp set which I find extremely versatile as it has 28 little stamps to suit a large amount of different occasions so I’m never stuck for an image to suit.  The whole card is done in Garden Green (cardstock & ink).  The shamrock was punched out with a 1″ circle punch after stamping and then I pressed the cardstock into my Versamark inkpad and clear embossed it several times to give it shine and make it more of an emblem.  The background is Sanded background stamp and the edges of the card were rounded to go better with the shamrock.  Hmmm, maybe I should have rounded the other corners too?

Anyway, Happy St. Paddy’s Day to all my Irish friends out there and I hope you have an awesome time celebrating!
