A bit of Australiana

I must admit that I rarely make “Australian” greeting cards but that’s not because I don’t want to but because I am very fussy with my taste of Australian rubber stamps. Finally I have found some Australian stamps with images that I really love. And here’s my card:
This is one of those cards where I kept adding stuff to it then kept taking it off again as everything looked to busy. In the end all the card is simple but allows the image to take the centre stage. Also, having used textured cardstock as part of the base of the card has added that little bit extra so that the card doesn’t look overly plain. Hmmm, sometimes I wonder if I over analyse my cards….
The image I’ve used here is a Gum Blossom from the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalogue which will be released 1st April here in Australia. For my overseas readers, a Gum Blossom is a native Australian flower. The image was stamped in StazOn ink onto watercolour paper and then watercoloured with watercolour crayons. I took great delight in using my crayons again as this image was just screaming out for some deep colours.
So if you’re interested in seeing the rest of the stamps in this stamp set, drop me a line at angelasargeant@gmail.com and I’ll get a catalogue out to you shortly.
Here’s the list of products I’ve used to make this card:

Lovely card Angela, I agree less is more! Love that image, how cool is that? Bummer we won’t be able to get it here in the USA, but I’m so glad SU! is making some great Aussie stamps
That really is a gorgeous set.
Gorgeous – nice to see some classy Aussie stamps included in the catalogue, I looked at the US catalogue yesterday and I was desperately wishing for something like this!! Can’t wait to see it!
Ooooohhhhhh….this is just gorgeous Ange! I like how you’ve let the image be the star. I’ve been on the fence about this set, but I think you might have pushed me over the edge
