I had some really exciting news recently that a friend of mine and her husband are expecting a baby. When I first started stamping some 7 years ago, I started by making lots of baby cards – I don’t know if it was just me because I had babies or if lots of people start by making baby cards. Anyway, I still have a heap of them left and although I do still like them I couldn’t resist buying this stamp set to make a card for my friends. I must say that this stamp set, Wild About You by Stampin’ Up! isn’t my usual style or the sort of stamps I’d ever buy but I decided to go ahead since I was sure I’d find uses for it for other occasions. So here’s my card, simple but sweet I think.

I don’t know what sex the baby will be so I decided to go with green and yellow. To make this card I simply stamped the giraffe stamp (my friend loves giraffes) using Certainly Celery ink on Whisper White cardstock. I then used a glue pen to ‘colour-in’ the spots and poured glitter on top to give the giraffe some sparkle. The giraffe’s eye and mouth seemed a bit stark white so I coloured them in with a Barely Banana marker. This image was then layered onto some Barely Banana cardstock, Certainly Celery cardstock and patterned paper. By the way, I was really excited to find this paper in my stash, I never had any use for it but I was thrilled that it seemed to be just perfect for this card… now I know why I hoard patterned paper! Lastly I layered the whole piece onto a folded piece of Confetti Cream cardstock which I think you can just see the flecks on the card in this photo. To finish off, I stamped the word “Cherish” from the ‘Warm Words’ stamp set in Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The word ‘Cherish’ was punched out using a large oval punch, edged with Certainly Celery marker and then attached to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals foam mount. I’ll list the products below to make it easy to see what I’ve used but if you have any questions or would like to purchase any of these products then please contact me on angelasargeant@gmail.com

This is great! I love giraffes too! I must admit I have wanted this set since the new catty came out but am still yet to buy it, others won out! I may need to get it though!
