Like everyone else I seem to accumulate huge amounts of scrap paper. While I can just throw it out, the hoarder in me wants to keep bits of patterned paper just in case it comes in handy. A fun, quick and easy way to use up those scraps that are ‘too pretty’ to throw out is to feature a range of them on a card or scrapbooking layout. If like me you use patterned paper that’s double-sided and/or comes in a pack of matching paper then it’s so simple to whip up a fun yet coordinated card like the one I’ve made below. I’m thinking too that I might take this same idea and use it on a scrapbooking page.

Looking back over my cards I realised that I’ve used the same layout idea as this card. While this was unintentional I’m now thinking I’ll have to look back through my blog to see what else I can transform by using up my scrap bits of cards.
Hope you like my card and that it’s inspired you to have some fun with your stash of scrap patterned paper. If you have any questions about my card or the products I’ve used then please feel free to email me.

I was actually going to host a challenge over on my own blog to use up your scraps and create a card or scrapbook layout…looks like you’ve beaten me to it haha
Great card! I created a “use up some scraps” card yesterday, and unintentionally was inspired by this post…BEFORE you posted it – creepy huh? LOL! My card is here: http://teganrebecca.blogspot.com/2009/12/from-my-heart.html
Just looking at your card again…quick question – how do you get the circle punched out in the centre? I always have trouble with that, and end up abandoning/altering my LO’s because my punch wont reach the space in the centre. Or do the SU! punches extend that far?
Thanks!
What a simple yet effective way to use those scraps. I have all mine in an envelope…shd break them out and give ‘em a run huh?? LOL!! Thanks for also giving me an idea of what to team Cameo Coral with. I do not have the ink pad and I have trouble with the colour!! Hope you had a great Chrissy and have an AWESOME 2010. ooxx
What a great idea.I have some circle punches and lots of scrap paper.Tomorrow is going to be a wet day so I might involve the kids in making some holiday cards.Love the colur combination.
I love this idea as I also never know what to do with those precious little scraps of DSP! Thanks for sharing. And for Tegan I think Angela has punched the paper with the circle punch and then adhered it to the centre of the card, that is, the hole is not in the cardstock it is a circle of paper? Does that make sense?
Claire xo
Thanks for your comments everyone
Yes you’re right Claire, I did punch out the scraps of patterned paper then adhered them onto the centre of the card.
Tegan, that’s so funny we had the same idea!
Liz, hope you had a great day with the kids doing some cardmaking, what a lovely way to spend the day.
Lynda, glad I was able to help you out with Cameo Coral. I find it’s a colour that works great if you use it in small amounts to highlight other colours, also goes great with Rose Red and Ruby Red.
Cheers,
Angela
happy new year angela. Very effectice but extremely simple. gotta love that!! Thankd Donna
